I believe that is renowned folk artist Elijah Pierce in the photograph.
This is indeed a photo of Mr. & Mrs. Elijah Pierce, taken by me in 1982 in Mr. Pierce's barber shop on Long Street just east of Washington. I believe her name was Estelle.
