Franklinton Flood of 1913 - Wireless Telephone
Form THE OHIO STATE ENGINEER magazine of November, 1921 there is an article about electrical communication at Ohio State that outlined a radio station under consideration, but focused on how storms and blizzards destroyed the wire telephone connections of many towns and cities. "The general use of small wireless telephone and telegraph stations throughout Ohio...will provide a good means of communication in such emergencies. " During the flood of 1913 primarily in Franklinton, the wireless telegraph station at Ohio State was "for several days the only means of communication from Columbus to the rest of the state." WOSU was that radio station under consideration in 1921 and it went on the air in April, 1922 to provide its form of wireless communication to a broad audience in central Ohio.
